AceInfo is currently seeking a Systems Engineer/Admin to support our upcoming federal project, in Springfield, VA. 

 

Provide support in operating 24x7x365, via on-call support during nonstandard business hours. The Agency manages 4,500+ Linux servers, 1,200+ Windows servers, Active Directory, MS Exchange, and multiple AIX environments. The majority of the servers are virtualized, and support application and database hosting services in both non-production and production environments. The Candidate shall provide support in operating 24x7x365 for the responsibilities for this task.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide system administration and operational support for server infrastructure, hypervisor, and Operating Systems. Candidate shall design and implement automated failover and automated recovery solution.
  • Implement, and maintain an Automated Configuration Management, by using tools including but not limited to Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or other according to the direction to ensure consistent configurations on all server operating systems.
  • Manage and monitor the performance, utilization of the various server resources, support the analysis as well as correction of all end-user computing and network problems that may be associated with server processing. Candidate shall design and implement automated resource management of virtual assets to include automated corrective actions for systems experiencing performance issues related to the technical stack from Operating System to Infrastructure (i.e., does not include middleware/Java/etc).
  • Design, implement, and maintain a hybrid cloud utilizing the directed hypervisor and cloud management suite(s) and integrate with multiple public cloud service providers.
  • Automate the end-to-end service fulfilment for application hosting (e.g., automate virtual machine creation, OS installation and configuration, IP addressing and DNS registration, Java container deployment and configuration, and integration with access management solution).
  • Design, implement, and maintain a Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Update the documentation for all server operations procedures and services and maintain accurate information about all Configuration Items (Cis) in the CMDB.
  • Utilize tools and processes, including but not limited to software distribution, backups, performance measurement, tuning, license and asset management to allow automated as well as remote systems management of the server environment.
  • Provide support to resolve incident, problem, or service requests that require subject matter expertise and cannot be resolved by the EOC. Task personnel shall provide final problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain automation (e.g., scripts, existing product features) to replace processes which are manually performed as directed by the designated government lead.
  • Work with EOC to implement automated preventative measures, proactive monitoring and system self-healing capabilities to limit outages/performance issues which impact service levels.
  • Contribute to the Root Cause Analysis efforts when applicable.
  • Coordinate with the designated government lead to establish an automated and on-demand capability for the reporting of Capacity/Performance to include the measurement and analysis of resource utilization and trends for both physical and virtual assets. Candidate shall also establish a dashboard for performance monitoring and resource utilization including Real-Time and Historical trends.
  • Provide remote support for OS and standard software build installation activities as required to meet SLAs.
  • Perform system or component configuration changes necessary to support Server Virtualization products.
  • Manage storage on the virtualization environment to minimize cost and overhead.
  • Candidate shall ensure automated processes do not over allocate and negatively impact the stability of the environment.
  • Provide and maintain security hardened baseline configurations (software) and deploy security (patches), software maintenance (patches) and new software releases across the supporting products and infrastructure.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience (Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience, and a Master of Science (M.S.) can be substituted with an additional 2 years of related experience).

 

Required Certifications:

    • Excellent communications skills, written and verbal with experience interfacing with senior levels Federal management staff.
    • 10 years’ system administration and operational experience, providing support for server infrastructure, hypervisor, and Operating Systems.
    • Ability design and implement automated failover and automated recovery solution.
    • Ability to Implement and maintain an Automated Configuration Management, by using tools including but not limited to Puppet, Chef, Ansible.
    • Experience with the following tools and processes: software distribution, backups, performance measurement, tuning, license and asset management
  • Experience with Windows servers, Active Directory, MS Exchange, Linux servers and AIX environments.

 

 

Security Clearance Requirement:

Ability to successfully pass a DHS Background Investigation
