AceInfo is currently seeking a  Senior Systems Engineer- DevOpS to support our federal project, in Bowie, MD.



Project Overview:

The Client  is launching various efforts to define the architecture for Decennial and its next generation topology. These efforts involve developing strategies for how to leverage an enterprise development and testing environment that can be quickly and dynamically provisioned and decommissioned on-demand. This effort will look to host the development, test and staging environments for Decennial systems that will be promoted to a separate production environment either in a cloud, data center or hybrid model. The Client  expects to leverage the experience and expertise of the Contractor for these efforts. Specifically the candidate will provide technical expertise and support, with a focus on Operational Support. Candidate will gather and document requirements and participate in strategic discussions, where appropriate.



Position Description:


We are seeking a Senior Level Systems Engineer to join our Engineering Team to support development efforts including the Enterprise Development Integration & Test Environment (EDITE) for our Federal project in Bowie, MD. We plan to use RedHat's CloudForms along with Ansible for scripting application installs. Candidate will initially support scripting of application installs and transitioning development efforts into production operations.




Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer - Enterprise Development Infrastructure Testing Environment (EDITE) shall include, but may not be limited to: 

  • Understand business goals and drivers and translate those into an appropriate technical solution
  • Gather technical requirements, assess client capabilities and analyze findings to provide appropriate cloud solution recommendations and adoption strategy
  • Create the conceptual, logical and physical design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms
  • Research, analyze, recommend and select technical approaches for solving difficult and challenging development and integration problems
  • Learn and adopt new tools and techniques to increase performance, automation and scalability
  • Utilize scripting knowledge to create software/server automation tasks
  • Share the leading practices with internal team members and clients
  • Collaborate as part of larger delivery teams which may include project managers, business analysts, architects, developers, and change management professionals





Candidate must have the following knowledge, experience, and abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering/ Information Systems or related discipline (In-Lieu-of the education 5 years of total full time IT experience required)
  • 5+ years developing conceptual, logical and physical designs complying to security architectural requirements for multi-tenant environments and developing business and application workflows through captured and identified business, system and solution level requirements, constraints, risks and assumptions
  • 3+ years implementing a multi-tenant environment and automating/orchestrating workflows, to include host, operating systems, networking, storage, application, security, self-service and costing
  • Familiarity and experience implementing a DevOps model
  • Must have a working knowledge, preferably certified in ITIL Foundations, Configuration Management, Release Engineering and Agile (SAFe/Scrum) Development
  • Experience performing Systems administration in Linux (Red Hat Prefered), Windows, and Virtualization Operating Systems
  • Experience performing Networking (DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, LDAP, SSH)
  • Experience working with customers
  • Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for technical issues
  • Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
  • Experience with virtualization/container technologies such as OpenShift,VMWare and Hyper-V, KVM
  • Experience in scripting and programming to support server builds
  • Programing in any of the following is a plus:
  • Ruby
  • Python
  • Perl
  • Power Shell
  • Familiarity with any of the following software applications is a plus:
  • Jenkins
  • SVN
  • Puppet
  • Git
  • Chef
  • Maven
  • Ansible
  • Cloud Forms
  • Practical experience sizing hardware and storage needs
  • Strong analytical problem solving ability
  • Must be available to support production environment 24/7
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be able to meet public trust background investigation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Fluency in development disciplines such as algorithms and distributed systems design
  • Experience integrating systems using third-party APIs and services
  • Experience in the design and implementation of automated build and test systems
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills - desire to solve complex problems at scale
  • Detailed understanding of IaaS and virtualization – service orientated architecture designed around the delivery of Infrastructure components as a service.


Other Skills / Experience:

  • Must be familiar with implementing procedures, methods, and tools, that comply with government Cyber Security Controls and requirements (NIST 800-53)
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Must be able to relate to a diverse group of people including technical and development personnel, management, business customers, and vendors in a constructive and effective manner.
  • Must have a solid technical background coupled with desire and ability to grasp skills quickly, combined with deep attention to detail along with excellent verbal and written communication skills



  • Project and work flow management skills

U.S. Citizen is required for the position. Candidate must successfull pass a Federal Background Investigation.
