AceInfo is currently seeking a Systems Administrator I to support our federal project in Kearneysville, WV.

 

 

Project Overview:

 

Position Description:

 

The Development Workstation Software Package Management System Administrator is expected to have a thorough understanding of the components that must be in place in order to create and deploy software packages to the Standard Workstation. This includes the software requirements and dependencies, security posture, and help desk ticket management. Knowledge will be gained from customer communication, by closely working with the LCCB/ITCCB, system developers, DBAs, and SAs, as well as through the evaluation and testing of the respective system software developer packages. 

 

The SA is expected to have technical knowledge of BMC Remedy Action/Request Tool, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or other software deployment automation tools and be capable of executing independent and team tasks as assigned.  The SA must be a team player and willing to interact with other people at all levels throughout the organization. The SA must possess the ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues as they relate to workstation software package installs. 

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, manage and support automated desktop software deployment to OSC development workstations and other user workstations based on LCCB approved baseline packages.
  • Provide patch management and installation of new versions. 
  • Provide removal of software that is no longer required or licensed.
  • Troubleshoot application install and patch issues associated with the automated desktop software deployment process.
  • Technical Support for the desktop software packages/installs including responding to Help Desk tickets and working with users to resolve issues
  • Perform daily system log reviews to check install status and troubleshoot accordingly
  • Plan, communicate, and test to include desktop software upgrades, security updates, and patching
  • Research and investigate problems and develop viable solutions; communicate recommendations clearly and effectively to the team  
  • Provide technical input for policies and procedures and maintain associated documentation
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of desktop software process
  • Adhere to Change/Configuration Management procedures and policies
  • Develop, post, and maintain web pages or documentation for distribution of information
  • Assist PM in gathering system metrics for reporting purposes

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering or related degree program or sufficient technical experience to substitute for the formal education requirement.
  • Candidate must have or will be required to obtain Security+ certification within 3 months of start date.

Required Experience

  • 1-4+ years of IT engineering experience supporting projects and systems of similar size, scope and technical complexity to those supported under this contract.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with the BMC Remedy Action/Request Tool, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or other software deployment automation tools
  • Experience with PowerShell or similar scripting tools for assistance with software installation/deployment automation
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, promote customer service, and handle complex technical issues
  • Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clearly, accurately, and concisely communicate technical information in both oral and written formats
  • Ability to participate on 24x7 on-call team (rotating schedule).
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of tools (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, etc).
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly
  • Strong customer service and consultation skills
  • Must be flexible, intuitive and self-motivated
  • Work hours are consistent but occasional ad hoc requirements necessitate flexible hours

 

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with software procurements, including maintenance and licensing of those items
  • Familiarity with ITIL v3 Framework
  • Existing knowledge of USCG Business and Support systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with server hardening and security implementation strategies
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Familiarity with DOD STIG requirements

 

 

Additional Requirement:

U.S. Citizen is required for the position. Candidate must successfull pass a Federal Background Investigation.
