AceInfo is currently seeking a Systems Administrator II – HPC Jr Tech to support our federal project, in Boulder, CO

Position Description:

 

GSD/ITS is responsible for implementing and maintaining the information systems used to collect, process and disseminate the weather-related data necessary to support GSD's mission. The compute systems include High Performance Computing (HPC), stand-alone servers, and Virtual Machines.  The HPC Jr Tech will be the primary interface between HPC users and HPC engineers. This position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to develop procedures, strong data analysis skills, ticketing triage skills, and report generation skills (written and spreadsheets).   

 

Responsibilities

  • Triage help tickets and route appropriately
  • Track and report on HPC help ticket status for ESRL and other HPC users
  • POC for ESRL HPC user issues
  • Organize, prioritize, and execute all allocation change requests for HPC
  • Assist in scheduling jobs on the super computer
  • Track, expedite and assist ESRL HPC account management requests/issues and contribute to the execution and efficiency improvement of the HPC account management process
  • Manage HPC report generation/dissemination (system usage, backups, tickets, and reporting, etc.) via documents and complex spreadsheets.
  • Write and update procedures
  • Keep HPC Status Site, documentation, management calendar, etc. up-to-date
  • Prepare/send HPC status messages to users
  • Provide regular status and progress updates
  • Attend HPC management meetings and take notes, gather action items and decisions
  • Prepare presentation materials (documents, slides, spreadsheets, graphs, etc.)
  • Review issues/action items weekly notify of delinquencies
  • Creating/Disabling user accounts as requested
  • Communicating with internal and external technical staff to resolve service outages
  • Keeping customers appraised of service outages and restoration efforts
  • Maintaining logs of problems and their resolutions

 Additional responsibilities and duties include:

  • Maintain task list report and present the highlights monthly to Operations manager
  • Draft monthly status report and submit to Operations manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or equivalent experience
  • Data analysis experience
  • Familiarity with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems and standard utilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Visio
  • Very strong spreadsheet skills
  • Very strong technical writing skills
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ticketing systems and triaging tickets
  • Good English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Flexibility and, above all, reliability
  • Experience/skills in setting priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • High Performance Computing experience a plus

 

 

Additional Requirement:

  • U.S. Citizen is required for the position. Candidate must successfull pass a Federal Background Investigation.
