US Department of Agriculture – Network Management Support Services (NMSS): Provide to the USDA technical oversight of the network infrastructure, critical, customer-centric coordination functions internally and with external carriers, and provide superior customer support.
The System Engineer will be supporting enterprise servers and network monitoring applications in support of the USDA Network Management Support Services Team. Supported systems are critical to the successful delivery of services and reporting and must be available 24X7.
Supporting this environment requires extensive technical product experience in Windows and Linux servers as well as systems security controls including but not limited to, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL, Linux, SolarWinds. The Systems Engineer will assist network testing, troubleshooting, and support as well. The System Engineer will coordinate the delivery of highly responsive customer service, support, and demonstrate ability to manage to a high level of customer satisfaction.
This position will focus on projects to accomplish system upgrades and additional buildout during the first three to six months. Systems must be upgraded in place and without any interruption to services provided. As these projects are completed, the position will be approximately 25% O&M of the systems and 75% Tier1/Tier2 enterprise network support.
