AceInfo is currently seeking a System Administrator III to support our federal project, in Chesapeake, VA

 

 

 

Position Description:

 

The System Administrator (SA) will work as a member of the Search and Rescue Optimal Planning System (SAROPS) team by providing the SAROPS system IT operations and maintenance services.  SAROPS is installed as a Remote Desktop Application on Microsoft Windows systems. Typical tasks include the maintenance, repair, security patch maintenance, technical assistance, technical writing, field installation and updates, training support, and other technical tasks required to support new and in-service technology-based systems associated with SAROPS.

 

The SA is expected to have technical knowledge of his/her systems and be capable of executing independent and team tasks as assigned.  The SA must be a team player and willing to interact with other people at all levels throughout the organization. The SA must possess the ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues across a variety of systems and platforms. 

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day operations and administration of systems required by SAROPS
  • Technical Support for the systems including responding to Help Desk tickets and working with users to resolve issues
  • Performing system upgrades and maintenance tasks, including installation and configuration of operating systems, administration of user accounts, and maintenance of system security posture.
  • Perform daily systems review (logs, backups, etc.)
  • Participate and contribute to architectural design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the system infrastructure
  • Plan, communicate, test, and perform system maintenance, to include upgrades, security updates, and patching
  • Installing and upgrading system software and supporting operating system configuration in support of application and database software
  • Research and investigate problems, diagnose and provide resolution or viable solutions for hardware and software issues; appropriately escalating and reporting recommendations clearly and effectively to the management team
  • Provide technical input for policies and procedures and maintain associated documentation
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of servers and procedures
  • Adhere to Change/Configuration Management procedures and policies
  • Automating server admin tasking including scripting and reporting

 

Qualifications

 

Required Education

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or related degree program or equivalent experience to substitute for education

 

Required Training/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Minimum of 7 years IT engineering experience supporting projects and systems of similar size, scope and technical complexity to those supported under this contract
  • A minimum of 3 years of system administration across Linux/Unix, Microsoft Windows, and VMWare ESXi
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, promote customer service, and handle complex technical issues
  • Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clearly, accurately, and concisely communicate technical information in both oral and written formats
  • A minimum of 2 years of knowledge and working experience of DHCP, DNS, and AD Group Policy
  • A minimum of 2 years experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Ability to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Obtain a Security clearance and complete Security+ certification training

 

Desired Training/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Experience with server hardening and security implementation strategies. Preferred DISA STIG experience
  • A minimum of 4 years experience working with Search and Rescue Systems and providing system level support

 

Additional Information

  • Must be willing to travel 10%-15% (CONUS and OCONUS
  • This position is open to US citizens only and requires applicants to successfully obtain at least an interim security clearance, prior to start date, with the ability to obtain a final security clearance
