AceInfo is currently seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to support our federal project in Chesapeake, VA.

Position Description:

 

The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) works as a member of the Systems Support Team, providing daily database support and maintenance for systems running Oracle databases. The DBA is expected to have technical knowledge of his/her systems and must be capable of executing independent and team tasks as assigned.

He/she must be a team player and willing to interact with other people at all levels throughout the organization. He/She must also posses an outstanding ability to identify and database issues across a variety of systems and platforms, and must be able to support a duty analyst role, in which troubleshooting and support activities would need to be supported 24 x 7.  Off-hours and some weekend work may be required for this position in the future.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide Oracle DBA support to business units for issues related to the database itself, not application related issues.
  • Apply quarterly patches to databases using BladeLogic Database Automation (BDA).
  • Work as part of a team to automate database patching.
  • Identify and perform steps to modify existing databases installations to match the current PaaS image.
  • Monitor automated database patching, troubleshoot, and resolve issues as necessary.
  • Monitor database performance and advise the business unit of potential performance improvements.
  • Research vulnerabilities and remediate as necessary.
  •  Adhere to Change/Configuration Management procedures and policies.
  • Providing technical input for policies and procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation on those policies/procedures.
  • Properly estimate work efforts and technical challenges (scoping projects).
  • Research and investigate problems, diagnose and provide resolution or viable solutions for database issues; appropriately escalating and reporting recommendations clearly and effectively to management and team.
  • Assist with Linux and/or Windows system administration tasks.

Qualifications

Required Education

            Associates degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering or related degree program; or current IT certification with sufficient technical experience to substitute for the formal education requirement.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of 1-4 year experience in supporting Oracle databases.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, promote customer service and handle complex technical issues.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to support systems 24x7 and be on-call.
  • Security+ Certification.    

Miscellaneous Requirements and Highly Desired Skills

  • 1-3 years experience with Database Automation Tools, preferably BMC’s BladeLogic Database Automation or Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Experience with BMC Remedy Action Request System and any of its associated applications, such as Service Request, Change Management, Asset Management, Incident Management, etc.
  • Experience with server security hardening and security implementation strategies in support of
  • Familiarity with this agency's systems and operations
  • Familiarity with the ITILv3 Framework
  • Experience supporting Red Hat Linux and/or Windows Operating Systems

 

Additional Requirement:

U.S. Citizen is required for the position. Candidate must successfully pass a Federal Background Investigation.
