  • Overview

    AceInfo is currently seeking a F5 Web Application Firewall/Network Application Engineer III to support our federal project Kearneysville, WV.  



    Position Description:



    This position will report directly to the Network as a Service (NaaS) Engineering Project Manager.  The NaaS team is responsible for networking, monitoring, and performance evaluation for the agency's business systems and other agency entities by analyzing and improving system performance, stability and functionality and providing design consultation, performance base lining, troubleshooting, Load Testing and consulting services.  The Engineer for this position provides application engineering expertise for F5’s Web Application Firewall service provided to the agency's publically facing systems. 



    • Support the design, engineering, implementation, and maintenance of a WAF system. 
    • Support the development and maintenance of a WAF-compatible configuration that ensures the web system(s) is ready to receive a WAF security policy.
    • Follow architecture and deployment standards, following compliance requirements and F5 Best Practices.
    • Interface with Network Engineers, Project Managers, Client Partners and Client Architects to provide excellent engineering and architecture services throughout the customer service lifecycle.
    • Collaborate with Network Engineering and Information Security teams.
    • Coordinate with Application Owners in support of change activity to apply/change Blocking Security Policy (BSP) and Blocking enforcement mode policy as required by DISA directed changes.
    • Maintain WAF Attack Signatures.
    • Continue to learn advanced F5/network technologies.




    • Bachelor’s Degree in CS or IT or equivalent work experience. Strong with information security practices. Strong skills with Web Application communcation protocols and methodology
    • Security + required



    • CCNA or higher
    • Relevant F5 certification/training is a plus
    • Application / Operating System specific certification / training



    • DoD or DHS security clearance.
    • Use of standard office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Outlook.
    • Work with Cisco (LAN) product line, networks, and network security
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, and effective in interfacing with internal and external customers fostering collaboration and establishing strong partnerships and relationships
    • Good understanding of infrastructure technology such as server, storage, network and inter-relationship with data center architecture designs and services
    • Excellent technical writing skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision, set priorities, and give attention to detail and quality, flexible, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task, ability to work individually and with a team, positive attitude, self-motivated, reliable, trustworthy, strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and ability to handle stress in professional manner



    • Knowledge of the Department of Homeland Security enterprise architecture including security policies, procedures, and guidance. Experience with NIST certification and accreditation processes.
    • Experience in data center design, planning and consolidation of global sites a plus
    • Firewall implementation and maintenance in a DOD environment
    • Strong with DOD STIG requirements
    • Knowledge of TCP/IP, IT security architecture and design (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual private networking, and virus protection technologies -- behavioral based a plus).
    • Knowledge of LAN/WAN design and general internetworking technologies. Hands-on experience required.
    • Knowledge of various operating systems and hardware.


    Additional Requirement:


    U.S. Citizenship is required for the position. Candidate must possess a Secret clearance or above.
