  • Overview

    AceInfo is currently seeking a BigFix Principal Engineer to support our federal project, in Bowie, MD.  


    The IBM BigFix Principal Engineer will provide support to the Enterprise and Engineering branches.


    • The principal engineer will provide guidance and direction into design, configuration, data management, reporting, O&M support and best practices for leveraging BigFix in a federal agency setting.  Participate in systems engineering activities which include one or more of the following: Concept of Operations formulation, requirements definition, system analysis and design, validation and verification, system integration and, system performance analysis
    • Additionally, the principal engineer will provide BigFix operational troubleshooting support and assist with complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.  Interact daily with supervisor, technical support staff, operations and engineering managers. Interactions with client counterparts on project matters within area of responsibility 
    • Must work well with general guidance, generate competent technical input for operations type documentation, be detailed and security oriented.  Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to deal with multiple contractors and government organization.  Must have worked in large enterprise class type environments, be in line with industry best practices, think outside the box, and be able to make recommendations to improve overall governance and support continuous improvement


    • 10 full-time years of progressive experience managing enterprise identity management
    • 10 full-time years of demonstrated experience providing enterprise vulnerability and compliance management support
    • Extensive infrastructure and application support experience
    • Familiarity and practical application of advanced principles of ITIL/ITSM
    • Lead the development of documentation such as but not limited to:
      • Concept of Infrastructure Design and Operations
      • Detailed Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)
      • High level and low level designs
      • Functional and technical (i.e., systems) diagrams and related artifacts
      • Standard Operating Procedures
      • Service delivery catalogs and associated baselines
    • Ability to present to executive management incident debriefs and root cause analysis reports
    • Be a customer advocate by consistently meeting, exceeding expectations and incorporating customer service into all aspects of work

    Hands-on Exposure:

    • SME level knowledge of BigFix including endpoint management, vulnerability & compliance remediation, inventory and lifecycle management
    • Demonstrated experience of BigFix design, implementation, and operations in large enterprises
    • Advanced knowledge of identity management solution such as CA PAM, SailPoint, etc
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Amazon Web Services (Public and GovCloud)
    • Advanced technical knowledge of the latest Microsoft and Red Hat operating systems
    • Knowledge of government security policies (FISMA, NIST, DHS4300, etc.)
    • Multi-platform scripting abilities (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
    • Hands on experience with tools like Ansible, Puppet or other similar CM type tools

    • Natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics. Ability to analyze problems and determine root cause, generating alternatives, evaluating and selecting alternatives and implementing solutions

    • Able to drive things forward regardless of personal interest in the task 


    Education and Experience:

    • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelors in Computer Science or related field
    • In lieu of degree, a combination of education and 15 years of demonstrated hands on experience
    • ITIL v3 certification and/or formal training in ITIL/ITSM preferred, along with equivalent work experience
    • Must be IBM BigFix Compliance and Lifecycle certified. Inventory certification, a plus
    • Any Microsoft, Red Hat or Amazon certifications are a plus
    • Comfortable in a fast pace work environment



    Additional Requirement:


    Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen Candidate must successfully pass a Federal Background Investigation (Public Trust) or DOD Secret Clearance.
